Dalton Students Host 5th Annual Bit by Bit Conference to Inspire Girls in Tech
Bit by Bit: Breaking the Barrier for Girls in Tech, held its fifth annual conference online on Saturday, May 23. At this student-run conference, HS girls met mentors working in the computer science field and participated in online workshops.
Bit by Bit, a student-run conference, aims to bring together high school girls with a passion for computer science. This year’s conference featured a fireside chat with Rana el Kaliouby, Co-founder and CEO of Affectiva, a keynote presentation by Anne Aaron, Director of Encoding Technologies at Netflix, and a lunchtime conversation with the Bit by Bit ambassadors.
Attendees also explored the conference website, asked panelists questions, heard about mentors' experiences working in computer science, participated in hands-on workshops, completed STEM-related challenges to enhance their learning (and received various prizes!), and learned about future computer science career opportunities. To date, the conference has hosted over 700 individuals from 24 countries and 5 continents. To watch recordings of the live events, visit bitbybitnyc.org!
