Middle School Students Virtually Visit the Pollock-Krasner House
MS Visual Arts teacher Linda Sirow’s 5th-grade classes went on a “Zoom Tour” of the Pollock-Krasner House and Studio in the Springs on the east end of Long Island with art Educator Joyce Raymond on Wednesday, June 3rd.
Students saw the barn that Jackson Pollock, and later his wife, Lee Krasner, used as a studio. They saw the floor that Pollack laid his canvas on while he painted. The dripped paint is still there and some original cans of paint he used. Ms. Raymond explained how both Pollock and Krasner painted to express their emotions. Pollack and Krasner’s old farmhouse on the beautiful property overlooking a pond still contains fascinating furniture, artwork, and other collectibles.
