Ninth Graders Reconnect at Asphalt Green Gathering
Ninth grade students kicked off the school year at an outdoor get-together.
The 9th-grade retreat looked a little different this year, with students building relationships over Zoom rather than in person. The virtual portion of the retreat kicked off on August 26 and concluded August 28; students participated in team-building exercises that called for collaboration and problem-solving. Peer leaders guided discussions about identity, community, citizenship, and systemic racism. The program concluded with an outdoor gathering at Asphalt Green, where students had the opportunity to reconnect on a beautiful summer day. The Athletics department ran field day games, and class t-shirts were handed out. Despite having to remain socially distant and wear masks, it was a fun, spirited, and welcome way to begin the year!
