Another Busy Week for In-Person Activities

We had a busy week on campus, despite it being a short one!
Over the long weekend, staff worked to reorganize and clean rooms at First Program to accommodate 49 additional students back on campus on 10/14. This marked one of our largest expansions to date. We also welcomed 8 new learning supervisors, both at First Program and in the Middle School.

Over at 87th Street, PlayLab continued for roughly 250 students in grades K-3, and 60 4th grade students joined on Friday. They’ll be attending weekly from now on, including a special Halloween PlayLab session on Friday 10/30.

Meanwhile, the co-working and Makerspace spaces opened up for High School students on 10/14. Nineteen robotics students filled the Makerspace with the sounds of drills and saws, supervised both in-person and over zoom by the Engineering Faculty. The co-working space was quieter, but still productive—students settled in at socially distanced workstations and attended their classes remotely.

We had to shift plans for the 7th grade meet-up at Asphalt Green because of rain. The event moved indoors, and students decorated mini-pumpkins as they relaxed and spent time with the other students in their House. Around 40 students attended the event on Friday.

Next week, we’ll continue to have students on campus for in-person supervision and in co-working spaces. And, we look forward to adding a few new programs, including Theater workshops for 5th and 6th grade students along with an entrepreneurship workshop and reptile class for 7th and 8th grade. We’ll also hold a social event at Asphalt Green for the 8th grade next Friday—hopefully the weather cooperates!
