Dalton Celebrates First-Ever Digital Candlelighting
While we weren’t able to be together to celebrate, basked in the soft glow of candles in the Martin Theater, our community marked this time-honored Dalton tradition in a safe, virtual way.
Candlelighting, an annual Dalton ceremony, takes place on the last day of classes before Winter Break marking the Winter Solstice and transition between years. This year, Dalton adapted the tradition into a livestream video where community members virtually gathered to watch faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and students from each grade participate in the ceremony. Each candlelighter submitted a video of themselves lighting a candle to reflect on this past year and express their hopes for the year to come. This year’s ceremony also included many wonderful performances from Dalton choral groups and instrumental soloists.
