Dalton Students Watch Inauguration Day in Virtual Assemblies

Students gathered together virtually to commemorate a historic day for our democracy as Joseph R. Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States and Kamala Harris became the first woman and person of color to serve as vice president.
To mark Inauguration Day, middle and high school students joined virtual assemblies to watch the inaugural events together and heard remarks from faculty and students. In the middle school assembly, Social studies teachers Dr. Matt Williams, Catherine Edwards, and Deirdre Mingey led a discussion on the transfer of power in the United States. In the high school assembly, HS History teacher Dr. David Davidson shared video clips of past inaugural speeches to provide historical context and reference. After watching the ceremony and President Biden’s inaugural address, student leaders from Dalton’s Political Action Committee shared remarks about today’s importance.
