9th Graders Lead Letter Write-a-Thon to Support NYC Community
Ninth Grade Presidents Avery Leppo ’24 and Pippa Lee ’24 teamed up with Community Service Coordinator Doug Berns on Wednesday, January 13 to bring together 25 classmates for a letter-writing event centered around community.
As a way to close out the Parent Association’s month-long letter writing initiative, 9th graders hand-designed letters of encouragement and support while chatting, exchanging jokes, and jamming to music via Zoom.
The letters will be included in food deliveries from Rethink Food, an organization that funds NYC restaurants, grocery stores and hotels to turn excess food into deliveries for food-insecure New Yorkers.
“The Letter Write-A-Thon we had for the grade was amazing because it was a bonding and fun socializing event,” said Pippa. “It was great to help make a difference outside of the Dalton community.”
"Right now it is so important to bring people together, in and out of Dalton, and with this event, we were able to do both," added Avery.
