HS Science Teacher Leads Conference Session at Science Educators for Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice
Dalton High School science teacher Katherine Kartheiser led a session entitled, "Social Justice and Equity in Science Classrooms” last weekend at the Science Educators for Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice (SEEDS) Conference.
The three-day international annual conference, held virtually this year, focused on the theme, "Refusing Back to Normal: The Role of Science Education in Enacting More Just and Joyful Futures."
Katherine’s session provided a framework for high school science educators to include equity work in their classrooms and demonstrated ways to help students navigate how they can be agents of change as communities organize to resist the impact of larger systems of oppression.
