“What is Life?” 9th Grade Biology Students Visit Pier 40 and Central Park to Investigate the Question
What do we have in common with trees and bacteria? Why aren't we made of a single large cell? In a recent Biology Assignment, 9th graders explored the essential question, “What is life?”
Students used microscopes to directly observe the local surroundings in Central Park and Pier 40 to explore the living and nonliving world around them. They also studied both the similarities across life forms and the diversity of life forms in the biosphere.
