Dalton Hosts Interschool Novice Model Congress Conference

Earlier this month, Dalton’s Model Congress team hosted the annual Interschool Novice Model Congress Conference, bringing together an unprecedented turnout of over 140 novices from 10 schools across New York!

New York City Council Members Julie Won (District 26) and Julie Menin P’22, P23, P’36 (District 5) kicked off the day by sharing perspectives and insights as policy-makers, setting the stage for a day filled with inspired debate and discussion.

The conference consists of eleven committees mirroring the real Congress set up. These committees covered a broad range of critical issues, ranging from Foreign Affairs to Environment and Public Works. Within these committee sessions, students drafted and deliberated on legislation aimed at addressing real-world problems. These government simulations put the students' speech and leadership skills to the test, fostering an environment of critical thinking and dynamic engagement.
