Mandarin Team Visits 6th Grade History Class for Pinyin Lessons
Mandarin teachers Liqi Semenov and Cindy Wu, along with HS Librarian, Roxanne Feldman, visited the 6th Grade History class for Pinyin lessons. The goal was to help 6th Grade students pronounce some names in Mandarin for their China History unit, demonstrating empathy and respect for a different culture.
Throughout the session, the Mandarin team introduced the Pinyin letters and four tones, the fundamental elements of Mandarin. Students were encouraged to try out the pronunciation independently and have a pair competition at the end. It was an informative and fun experience!
Thank you to 6th Grade History teachers Maggie Dobbins and Raleigh Trissel for providing this opportunity for cross-departmental collaboration.
