First Program was thrilled to welcome Author/Illustrator Mike Lowery, on Thursday, October 26! From an $8K chicken nugget resembling George Washington to the diminutive dino, Micropachycephalosaurus, Mike Lowery shared his enthusiasm for "weird stuff that is totally true" with students and faculty alike. In addition to his illustrated facts, Mike Lowery shared his strategy for finding inspiration as an artist, walked students through his drawing process, and answered questions about his process as an author and illustrator with over 18 years of experience. Mike is the illustrator of picture books, including The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School and I Don’t Want to Read This Book and the chapter books series Mac B. Kid Spy, among many others. He is also the Author and Illustrator of the graphic novel series Bug Scouts, the nonfiction series Everything Awesome About…, and the nonfiction book Random Illustrated Facts. He also authored the Doodle Adventures series, inviting young readers to tell their stories through art and imagination.
