“Every time I attend, I’m reminded how lucky I am to have my kid as part of the school. It’s such a rare and special opportunity to get so up close and personal with the school’s astounding faculty.” That’s how one parent recapped their time at last Thursday’s annual Grownups Experience Dalton event. More than 200 parents, alumni, teachers, and parents of alumni enjoyed an evening that allowed them to sit in on a class as if they were a Dalton student. The evening’s course catalog was a tantalizing menu of amazing classroom offerings — from learning cool kitchen techniques to exploring the ins and outs of Chat GPT, from a lecture on the physics of surfing to an in-depth discussion on race, gender, and queer Identity in NYC’s Ballroom Culture, there was truly something for everyone..."

Praise for the event came rolling in almost immediately after the doors of Big Dalton closed for the night. Teachers were thankful for the opportunity to share their passions with the community, and attendees were excited by the chance to come together at an event that celebrates what Dalton’s mission is all about. As one grateful alum remarked, [it was] “an opportunity to re-experience that feeling of connection — and passion for life-long learning — just one of the trademarks of a Dalton education…for just a couple of hours, regardless of age or stage in your life, regardless what's going on in your life outside the wonderfully enriching halls of learning that you and the Parents Association opened to us again last night.”
This event would not be possible without the time and dedication of so many people — a huge thank you to the faculty and staff who taught a class as well as to everyone on the Dalton building, facilities and security teams. And of course, we all give a huge round of applause to the Dalton PA GXD co-chairs who made this wonderful night happen!
