Dalton Chess Team, “Another Bacon, Egg, and Cheese en Passant Please” Featured in Chess Life Magazine
Dalton’s High School chess team is celebrated in the latest May 2024 issue of “Chess Life” magazine for their repeat win at the US Amateur Team East (USATE) competition and their third consecutive win at the National High School Chess Championships.
Team “Another Bacon, Egg, and Cheese en Passant Please,” comprised of International Master Gus Huston ‘24, National Master Nate Shuman ‘24, National Master Ryan Peterson ‘24, Kevin Stern ‘29, placed first at the USATE competition, scoring a perfect 6/6 score this year. While Women’s International Master Iris Mou ‘27, National Master William Safranek ‘26, International Master Gus Huston ‘24, National Master Nate Shuman ‘24, National Master Ryan Peterson ‘24, Veda Safranek ‘24, Maxwell Massiah ‘25, Max Mottola ‘25, and Alexander Rubinstein Mash ‘26 outplayed a record-setting 1,860 of the most competitive chess players from 37 states.
