William Safranek ’26 Clinches 2nd National Chess Championship of the Year
On the heels of being crowned 11th Grade Co-Champion in December at the 2024 National K-12 Chess Championships held in Baltimore, junior William Safranek tied for first place at this month’s SuperNationals VIII in Orlando, making him the K-12 Co-Champion as well.
William has been a member of the Dalton Chess Team since kindergarten and recently was elected Co-Head of the High School Chess Club. In addition, he contributes to the Dalton community by volunteering as a chess camp coach.
The High School Chess Team has remained active in competitions including national championships and community service initiatives.
