7th Graders Put a Dalton Twist on Lord of the Flies Assignment
7th grade students were challenged to step into the “shoes” of a Lord of the Flies character and apply to Dalton!
As Ralph, Piggy, Jack, or Simon, students used their understanding of their personalities, values, strengths, and flaws, and complete an imaginative and persuasive Dalton admissions application. The applications mimicked those of real Dalton applicants, requiring a statement on The Dalton Plan, a portfolio artifact, and an admissions presentation to Babby Krents and Judy Calixto! After careful deliberation by Judy and Babby, Clara Ellis '30 (Simon) and Oliver Gelb '30 (Ralph) were granted admission. The other applicants Jonah Pfeister ‘30 (Simon), Imogen Philips Royo ‘30 (Simon), Masha Dutova ‘30 (Jack), and Evelyn Peng ‘30 (Jack), have been placed on the waitlist — Judy and Babby felt their applications were too strong to reject!
