New Heights for Dalton Track & Fied

Dalton Track & Field wrapped up its season with a historic showing—seven athletes qualified for the New York State Track Championships, the most in school history.
Senior Nyla Blake-Soden led the way with an outstanding individual performance. She placed fifth in the 400m hurdles, breaking her own school record by a remarkable two seconds, and finished fourth in the triple jump. Nyla also anchored the 4x400m relay team alongside Fran Burnett '25, Joie Christie-Ward '28, and Athena Drallios '27.

Earlier this season, Nyla also broke the 400-meter school record at the prestigious Eastern States Invitational, edging out the previous mark by 0.16 seconds. She now holds Dalton records in the 100m, 400m, long jump, triple jump, 100m hurdles, and 400m hurdles, and has contributed to school records in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and sprint medley relays.

Margaret Bassey '26 placed sixth in the triple jump (small school division), while Kannon Hunter '26 finished 18th in the high jump out of more than 50 competitors. Rohan Shah '25 capped off his season with a personal best in the pole vault, clearing 11'6".
