Breaking Bread: Raising Spirits – A Tequila Tasting Evening for Dalton Parents

Breaking Bread: Raising Spirits brought parents together to meet new faces, reconnect with familiar ones, and enjoy a refined experience centered on hospitality and shared moments.
The Dalton community gathered in the Commons for a warm and elegant evening of connection, conversation, and curated tequila exploration. The evening opened with welcoming remarks from the Breaking Bread Committee. Co-chairs Ali Atkins P’36, Rubina DeCosta P’33, P’36, Deanna Neiers P’34, P’36, Kaelani Pryce ‘36, and Hank Spring P'37 expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring Dalton parents together in a setting designed for relaxation, mingling, and genuine community building. Appreciation was also extended to the Dalton PA and the many partners whose support allows gatherings like this to flourish.

A highlight of the evening was the presence of Michael Stillman ‘98, Dalton parent, Dalton alum, and CEO and Founder of Quality Branded, the group behind renowned dining destinations including Smith & Wollensky, Quality Italian, Quality Meats, Don Angie, Bad Roman, and others. Michael guided guests through an engaging journey into the history of Quality Branded, offering thoughtful insights into the evolution of New York’s restaurant landscape and the inspiration behind his newest concept, Limusina.

The tequila tasting was led with expertise and charm by Meng and Bryan from the Quality Branded team. They introduced each selection with sophistication and guided the room through a lively tasting experience that balanced education with moments of spontaneity. Guests enjoyed a spirited one-liner challenge, where tables proposed names for a custom Dalton cocktail. The room filled with excitement as the winning table was recognized with a generous gift from Quality Branded Team.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed beautifully crafted hors d’oeuvres, including delicate salmon tastings and refined crab creations, along with a specialty cocktail developed exclusively for this event. Premium, alcohol-free tequila options ensured that every guest could fully participate in the tasting experience.
The presence of dedicated parent volunteers contributed to the welcoming atmosphere and smooth flow of the evening, reflecting the generosity and collaborative spirit that define the Dalton community.
Breaking Bread continues to serve as a meaningful reminder of the value of coming together. This year’s gathering offered not only excellent food and drink but also an elevated sense of connection, curiosity, and shared enjoyment. It was an evening that celebrated community in its most genuine form.
