Five for Five: Robotics Team Completes Perfect Advancement

With four teams already qualified and one final opportunity on the line, Dalton’s High School robotics program entered the January qualifier with hopes for one final team. The result of the competitions was not just the advancement the program was working towards, but a dominant performance that saw two teams claim top honors.
Team 9372, Standard Model, had an exceptional day, finishing 3rd in qualifications before winning the entire tournament as Winning Alliance Captain. They went undefeated throughout the qualifier, maintaining a perfect win-loss record while also setting the event high score and earning 2nd place for the Control Award. This marks their second tournament win as Winning Alliance Captain this season and pushes them into the top 20 teams in New York State.

Team 4174, Atomic Theory, finished 2nd in qualifications and captured the tournament’s most prestigious honor: 1st Place Inspire Award, which celebrates teams that embody the program’s ideals through exceptional robot design, competitive performance, and community outreach. As captain of the 2nd alliance, they selected team 17126 as their playoff partner. Atomic Theory joins Standard Model in the top 20 teams across all three regions comprising NYS.

Team 17126, Natural Selection, accomplished their mission! Finishing in the upper half at the end of qualifications, they earned advancement through their playoff alliance partnership with 4174, securing the final spot needed to complete Dalton’s perfect advancement record at this point in the season.

All five Dalton FTC robotics teams will now compete at their respective Super Qualifier on February 28th or March 1. The complete advancement sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting next phase of competition.
