Journalism Seminar Students Review “A Century of the New Yorker”
As part of their study of cultural journalism, students in the Journalism Seminar visited A Century of the New Yorker, a temporary exhibit at the main branch of the New York Public Library.
The temporary exhibit features artifacts, letters, and an impressive display of its iconic covers to tell the story of what many consider to be the preeminent cultural magazine in the United States. As they study the symbiotic relationship of journalism and culture this semester, students have been reading long-form essays in cultural publications, including the New Yorker, and as part of this visit, they will be writing reviews of the exhibit in the style of New Yorker reviews.
