Afya Volunteer Event: Small Actions, Global Impact
Last weekend, Dalton’s PA Community Service Committee and families came together for a hands-on volunteer event with the Afya Foundation, an incredible nonprofit that rescues surplus medical supplies from New York health systems and delivers them to communities in need around the world.
Over two energetic hours, students and parents rolled up their sleeves to sort and pack essential items — bandages, gauze, PPE, and more — helping prepare shipments bound for frontline hospitals in Ukraine, communities rebuilding after natural disasters, women’s health clinics in Puerto Rico, and beyond. We also learned more about the impactful work Afya does from founder/CEO Danielle Butin.
The experience offered a meaningful, behind-the-scenes look at how simple acts — like sorting unused supplies — can directly support families globally. It was inspiring and fun to see our K12 families working side by side, contributing to a mission that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this impactful day of service!
