The 8th grade spent a day in a workshop with members of the Concern Worldwide -- Global Concerns Classroom.
In 2000, 189 leaders from around the world met to take a stand against poverty and created the Millennium Development Goals. The Workshop challenged the 8th grade (and their House Advisors) to think practically and critically about the challenges involved in achieving theses goals. Throughout the day, students in House groups researched facts and information and they designed a strategy (allocating funds and services) for reaching one of the goals for a particular country. At the end of the day, all groups presented their proposed solutions to the grade in the Martin theater.
