House 36 Uses iPad App to Learn Handwriting

Thanks to Ms. Karen Bass, Coordinator of Curriculum Integration, House 36 practiced handwriting on iPads using an app called ABC Easy Writer.
The innovative app utilizes a multi-sensory approach involving visual, audio and kinesthetic interaction. *Studies from the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development have shown that a multisensory teaching method is the most effective. The best teaching method is to involve the use of more of the child’s senses, especially the use of touch and movement (kinesthetic). This will give the child’s brain tactile and kinesthetic memories to hang on to, as well as the visual and auditory ones. Plus, the kids loved it!
