Dalton Achieves Great Results at National Chess Championships

David MacEnulty
Our little chess Tigers let out quite a roar in Dallas.  Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade teams are National Champions!  Kindergarten, First and Third Grades won second place team trophies, while our Second Grade team came in fifth place.  That fifth place was actually better than it sounds; only one point separated the top five teams.  In addition to our six team trophies, our little warriors of the mind brought home nine individual trophies.
I should also mention how wonderfully supportive the parents are.  They all pitch in to help all the children, not just their own.  They are tireless in providing nutritious snacks, guiding children from one place to another, looking after a child for a parent who may not be feeling well, and generally making sure everyone is where they need to be.

Finally, I have to praise our outside coaching staff.  Grandmaster Miron Sher and his wife, Women's Grandmaster Alla Grinfeld, National Master Cory Evans and expert Nelson Dunn are amazingly clear, gentle and supportive in helping our children understand both the technical and the human side of the game.

We follow a good process and we get a good result.  The children grow immensely from all this.
