Judges: Stein, Waller, Karp, McNary, Golon.

Recently, thirteen 8th grade students took part in the Public Speaking Contest during assembly. Ms. Stein, Head of School, Lisa Waller, HS Divisional Director, Kathleen McNary, HS Asst Director Student Activites, Jay Golon, MS Dean and Carolyn Karp, MS English teacher served as judges. This event is the culminating assignment in each English class's public speaking unit.  All 8th graders prepared a 3-minute persuasive speech on a topic of each student's choice. Each class selected representatives for the assembly contest.  Topics ranged from the abuse of women in India to the importance of respecting military veterans. Among the many worthy candidates, the judges chose to recognize Jordan Chambers for his speech about racial profiling, Priya Maskey for her speech about Social Anxiety Disorder, and Hannah Labow for her speech about the myths of Disney princesses.
