Jeff Wasson and Christopher Van Wickler "Heat-Up" Dalton
Jeff Wasson prefers to be referred to as an armorer. He studies and builds 14th and 15th century armor. He is interested in making armour that is historically accurate and is as close as possible in form to the real thing He has jousted in armour, and feels he has a unique perspective on it's functionality.
Also, being trained as an artist and sculptor he captured the proper shapes that make authentic armour, an art form. Christopher Van Wickler is a blacksmith at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Blacksmiths work by heating pieces of wrought iron or steel, until the metal becomes soft enough to be shaped with hand tools. All of the third and fifth grade students had an opportunity to watch these artisans caste bronze and work on armor smithing and forging.
