Restaurant Grand Opening - The Pippi Cafe

It's not just about the food! The students in House 41 have been studying studying cuisines from around the world, visiting restaurants, writing restaurant reviews, growing their own vegetables on the roof outside the Science Room, and visiting farm to table environments. All of this in preparation for the big grand opening of their own restaurant.

The Pippi Cafe will be open on Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6. The theme of the cafe will be based on the book "Pippi Longstocking" by Astrid Lindgren. The children chose Pippi as the theme of their restaurant because Pippi Longstocking was a book they all loved this year. They said, "Pippi is a risk taker and a problem solver, just like all of us!" All of the money raised at The Pippi Cafe will be donated to the charity, Room to Read.  House 41 picked this organization because they work hard to provide the gift of reading and education to children in many underdeveloped countries in Africa and Asia. Many of these children have never been to school or even seen a book. Room to Read builds libraries and classrooms, and fills them with books and teachers.

This year, House 41 worked hard to learn how to read and write and we want to help other children learn these important life skills as well.
