Dalton Varsity Volleyball Fights Bravely to Lose to Undefeated Spence in Quarter Final Match

Dalton stoically faced Spence, the number one seeded team, in the quarterfinals of the NYSAIS tournament on October 30 at the Brearley Fieldhouse. The Tigers lost a back and forth first set and fought bravely and skillfully, but lost the match after Spence won the third and fourth sets.
Freshman, Lucy Fetterman, led the charge with her dominant serving and key blocks at the net.  Jane McLeod's consistent play from the season continued in this round of the State Tournament.  Her timely kills and impressive single block gave Dalton the confidence they needed to battle with the top independent school team.

Junior, Claudia Hurwitz's jump serve gave the Tigers an energy boost to start the second set.  Her passing made the job of senior setter Casey Brooks a bit easier.  Brooks played an impressive second game setting up the Dalton hitters for great kills.  Impressive plays by seniors Anna Hitchcock and Grace Monk helped keep Dalton alive in each set.

The Tigers fought hard against a talented and still undefeated opponent.  The team will miss the three seniors, but is looking forward to keeping the momentum from this year going next fall.
