Children in House 36 learned about Diwali, the "festival of lights", which is a five-day Hindu festival. Ruchi Kotahwala, Vihaan's mom, and Ruchi and Amit Mehta, Arav's parents visited House 36 to share some of the traditions that take place during holiday of Diwali. It is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. During the holiday of Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. The children had an opportunity to eat tradtional sweets and make their own wood cut Diwali cards.
A spiritual meaning behind Diwali is "the awareness of the inner light". The children took away the knowledge that each day we all have to work hard, be honest, and always give our best.
