Big Win at Robocup Jr. Soccer and Rescue USA Championship
Seventh and eighth grade Dalton robotics students participated in the RoboCup Junior USA Championship in Bridgewater, NJ on Sunday, April 13. The Soccer team, competing for only their second year, took the competitors by storm, going undefeated and winning the Light Weight Primary division. They also won First Place in Mechanical Design and have been invited to represent the USA in the Robocup Junior World Championships in Brazil this July.
The rookie Rescue team successfully participated in a difficult division, which pitted them against all HS teams in their search for "victims," or sources of heat in a random maze. The Dalton teams developed Arduino-based robots that autonomously addressed their respective challenges, Soccer and Rescue.
The teams' dedicated coaches are Michael Sloan Warren, Kuri DiFede and Ben Light. Congratulations to all!
