The fourth grade class visited Plymouth, Massachusetts on April 24-25. The students are currently studying the immigration of the Mayflower passengers as part of their year-long study of immigration. This trip gave the students a chance to have an up close and personal experience to see how people lived in a recreation of the 1620 Pligrim settlement. It was an exciting time for the students, teachers and chaperones. Students had the chance to visit the Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock, and tour the town of Plymouth. For some students, it was their first overnight trip.
Thursday evening, students played games from the 1600's, spent time in a Pilgrim replica house and also learned how military troops were trained at the time. Friday morning, students had a chance to visit the recreated 1627 settlement of Plimoth, complete with people playing the roles of townspeople. The students returned Friday afternoon, excited and fortified by their experience.
