Girls Track and Field Wins PSAA Championship

The girls track and field team won the PSAA championship in one of the closest finishes in league history. The Tigers edged UNIS by one point and LI Lutheran by 6 points. Dalton led UNIS by 3 points going into the final two events of the day, the 3000 and 4x400 relay.
Charlotte Watts '16 and Maisie Fisher '17 finished 3rd and 4th in the 3000, with Fisher holding off a hard charging UNIS girl by a step to finish fourth and keep the Tigers advantage by 3 points. In the final event of the day, the Tigers just had to finish one place behind UNIS to seal the victory and the 4x400 relay team of Tyler Love '16, Janelle Benjamin '16, Fisher and Sunaina Danziger '15 finished second behind UNIS to clinch the title. Danziger won MVP honors for the girls winning the 400 and 800 as well as being part of both the 4x100 and 4x400 teams. Other individual champions included Grace Welle '16 in the shot put and Love in the 100 Hurdles. The boys track and field team finished in second place out of the 13 schools. It was the team's best finish in six seasons. Alek Kiprovski '14 got the meet started winning the 110 hurdles, Eron Swan '16 won the triple jump and Henry Woods '14 won the 1600 and 3200 as well as placing second in the 800 to earn MVP honors of the meet.
