Four Wins For Dalton Athletics - A Successful Thursday

Dalton Athletics had a successful and exciting Thursday afternoon in soccer, tennis, volleyball and football, that was topped off with wins for Dalton's Varsity Football, Girls JV Volleyball and Soccer and Girls Varsity Soccer teams.
Football Varsity Football traveled up to Harvey for a high scoring game.  Dalton won with a final score of 36-20.  Jordan Chambers '17  ran for three touchdowns including a very impressive run for over 80 yards.  While, Xander Furman '15 and Zach Rosh '15 both added a touchdown.  Furman on a kickoff return and Rosh from a pass by quarterback Jream Henderson '17.  Dalton's offense rolled through Harvey while the defense limited Harvey's possessions.  Leo Kone '15, who managed two sacks of Harvey's quarterback, led the defensive team.

Meanwhile, JV Volleyball and JV girls soccer along with varsity girls soccer headed out to Brooklyn to take on Ivy league competitor Poly Prep.  JV Volleyball played a great match against Poly, who is a top team in the Ivy league.  Serves helped secure a close second set and helped Dalton eventually win the game 2-1.  The JV girls soccer team was rebounding from their first loss of the season and did so convincingly. Three different team members scored goals as they defeated Poly Prep 5-0.

While the JV teams were winning, the Varsity girls soccer team played a challenging back and forth game.  During regulation, there were two clear highlights:  a goal saving clear from Alexis Harris '16 and co-captain Rosie Ehrlich '15 who hit the crossbar on a corner from Kara Siegel '19.  Following the two overtime periods, the game was still scoreless, which forced penalty kicks.  Ehrlich and Camilla Moraes '15 both made their shots while goalie Leyla Kamshad '19 managed to make her three shots to extend penalty kicks into sudden death.  A very calm Noe Abernathy '16 drilled her shot to the corner and Kamshad saved the final Poly shot to earn Dalton's victory.

It was indeed, a successful day for Dalton Athletics.  Check the website for schedules of both the Middle School and High School teams so you can join in the excitement and cheer on our Dalton Tigers.
