Fresh off their study of the Newbery Award winning When You Reach Me, the fifth grade welcomed author Rebecca Stead to speak with students about her inspiration for the novel, connections to her childhood, and her process as a writer.  Rebecca Stead also wrote Liar and Spy, which won the Guardian Prize in 2013.  Her debut novel, First Light, was published in 2007 and was a Junior Library Guild Selection and a New York Public Library “Best Book for Teens.”
