Chess Team Earns National Recognition
In what was considered to be the strongest performance by any school in the nation, the Dalton Tiger Chess Team reached new heights on the weekend of December 13-14 at the Grade National Chess Tournament in Orlando. They became national champions in first grade, third grade and fourth grade. The second grade team came in second place, sixth graders placed third, eighth graders came in fourth, and our little team of kindergartners received the fifth place trophy.
The children were amazing, our outside coaching staff was brilliant and encouraging in their analysis and preparation, and the Dalton chess parents continue to be the best and most supportive in the country. We had a great weekend, with stellar performances from the children.
