The Dalton Conference 2026 - Whole Child, Whole School: An Ecological Approach to Wellness
Last weekend, the Dalton Conference brought 24 New York independent schools to our 89th Street building for a day of education and reflection.
With representation from across school constituencies — students, faculty, staff, heads of school, parents, trustees, alumni, and administrators — participants engaged in conversation and collaborated on this year's theme, "Whole Child, Whole School: An Ecological Approach to Wellness." Using the Dalton Plan's House, Assignment, and Lab as a structure, the day included a keynote panel, Labs organized by common constituencies, a moderated student panel, and Labs organized by school. Through insightful, engaged discussions, participants explored both the challenges schools face today and effective practices for deepening intentional inclusion in our communities.
We're grateful to our 65 greeters, facilitators, notetakers, and note editors, and the Conference Planning Committee (Diku Rogers, Destiny Torres, Lemor Balter, and Jessica Torres-Rosa) for bringing this event to life as a space for a shared commitment to equity.
