ProDev 2016 - Faculty & Staff Become Students for a Day
Nearly one year ago, the Dalton Professional Development Planning Committee, a team of 13 hard-working faculty, staff, and administrators started their collaboration to prepare for ProDev '16, a day-long professional development adventure that took place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
The team, ably headed by Middle School Assistant Director for Grades 4 and 5 Tracy Fedonchik and Middle School Librarian Roxanne Feldman, cast a wide net to book an array of workshops for a full day of thought-provoking, mind-bending, body-stretching and professionally enriching experiences. The aim of ProDev, which has now become a biennial Dalton event, is for faculty and staff, kindergarten through grade 12, to come together with others in our community to enrich their thinking and rejuvenate their practice by attending workshops that allow for a personal pursuit of interests. Maybe, more importantly, to remind faculty and staff once again how students feel every day when confronted with new and challenging topics.
As part of the planning process, faculty and staff offered their feedback about workshops and the event. They also helped the Committee gather together the impressive list of over 60 options. They repeated some of the popular workshops from past years and added many new ones. Volunteer teachers and staff members in the First Program, Middle School and High School, in addition to experts from outside of Dalton, presented exciting topics and shared their passions and expertise with the newly energized Dalton faculty and staff.
