Every student in second grade planned and built a city block. The completed blocks fit together side-by-side, to form a miniature urban oasis. For the second year in a row, the students added battery operated LED lighting to every block, but this year they received additional meaning; a lighting key illustrated the meaning given to each color and category of building. The represented building categories included health & safety, commercial, environmental, institutional, or residential. The students also introduced courtyards and heliports this year.
