Over 100 participants gathered in the 89th Street cafeteria to celebrate Chinese/Lunar New Year 2017 making this year's celebration the largest to date! Students, parents, faculty and staff were treated to Chinese food delicacies like dumplings, spring rolls, chicken and broccoli and fried rice, while everyone listened to Dalton's amazing Mandarin students singing karaoke along with their favorite songs from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Kids collected stamps in their program to earn prizes, all while learning about Chinese language and cultural traditions. Finally, everyone shared the thrill of hearing award-winning musician Dr. Yip play her guzheng - a traditional, and very ancient - Chinese instrument.
Special thanks to the Mandarin teachers, Adam Lanphier, Maria Kubiske, and especially Cindy Wu for making this annual tradition bigger and better each year! Xie xie wode peng you!
