Grade 8 Teacher & House Advisor Mr. Zach Terrell and students enjoyed some quality time with author and poet Sherman Alexie at an event on October 13, 2017, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Alexie's iconic fictionalized autobiography, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. With his characteristic admixture of humor, solemnity, warmth, and zeal, Alexie recounted the process of writing ATDPTI, the pain it caused him, his surprise at the book's ascent to international fame, and story after story of lives touched by Arnold Spirit Jr. It was an unforgettable and perfectly timed evening, as the Eighth Grade is just wrapping up their reading of the book in English class.
