Ninth Graders Present Independent Research Projects
For the past two weeks, ninth graders who completed their semester-long independent science research projects, presented their findings to their peers.
Topics included the pH of drinking fountains in different boroughs, whether the backpack weight of Dalton students is safe and varies due to commute style, the resilience of the famous microscopic Tardigrades, and many more. Students designed a novel science experiment around an area of personal interest; they conducted background research, conducted the experiment, collected data, analyzed and visualized the data, and communicated about their project in a formal research talk.
