Third Graders Visit The Guggenheim Virtually!

By the end of November, all third graders will have visited the Guggenheim virtually.
A museum educator joined the third grade Houses on Zoom and gave a short tour of some of the artwork in the Guggenheim's Artist to Activist collection. The students were shown two to three works of art and then discussed how the artists used their work for activism.

First up was Artist Navin Rawanchaikul and his twenty-three-foot long painting Places of Rebirth. Next, we viewed a photo from Carrie Mae Weems’ The Kitchen Table Series. Some of the classes were shown Gabriel Orozco’s mosaic, Asterisms, made from objects found in the ocean.

Students created their own activist art pieces based on something they care about. We also recorded two of the classes, and we hope you enjoy the screenshots!
