At the New York City Invitational, Dalton fielded 12 debaters across the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels. The team posted an impressive showing, including a first place speaker award for Anya Levin.
At the Nano Nagle Round Robin, an invitation-only tournament, Dalton was represented by Leo Yu ’23 and Leela Mukherjee-Sze ’23. Even as one of the youngest teams in their division, Leo and Leela were victorious against several nationally top-ranked teams.
Last weekend, at the Scarsdale Invitational, the team fielded four “Pro-Am” teams in Varsity, pairing some of our newest debaters with more experienced teammates. The Varsity teams collected 11 total victories and Rebecca Solomon ’21 and Tali Kantor Lieber ’24 were recognized as top speakers.
In the Novice division, first-year debaters truly shined, with Rex Popick ’24 and Jai Kapoor ’24 going undefeated to capture top spot in their division, followed closely by Julia Miyasaka ’24 and Syeda Hossain ’24.
This marks the third time in three months that Dalton teams have captured first place in national and regional tournaments.
