First Program Celebrates Our Families’ Cultures at Dalton’s First Virtual Multicultural Festival

Though this year’s First Program Multicultural Festival adopted a new digital design, it delivered a familiar, heartfelt feeling as families learned about the many rich cultures and traditions that make up the Dalton community.
Traditionally, every year in January, First Program families transform Little Dalton into a living, vibrant celebration of Dalton’s diverse community. In keeping with this spirit while prioritizing health and safety, Dalton’s Multicultural Festival Committee invited the FP community to a new virtual festival where they unveiled the Dalton Multicultural website.

As First Program families navigated the online festival, they marveled at students’ eye-popping art centerpieces, browsed the online family recipe blog, watched a series of heartwarming video showcases, and perused an extraordinary Multicultural Cookbook that featured personal family recipes along with fun, interactive activities.

This year the Multicultural Festival celebrated 22 cultures that make up the Dalton community: African-American, Argentinian, Armenian, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Caribbean, Chinese, Cuban, Filipino, Greek, Icelandic, Indian, Italian, Judaism, Kashmiri, Korean, Mexican, Pakistani, Russian, Scandinavian, and West African.

Feeling inspired? Keep the celebration going by posting your own family recipe or art centerpiece submission to the MCF website! First Program families can also look forward to receiving a complimentary hard copy of the Multicultural Cookbook later this spring.

A special thanks to Dalton’s Multicultural Festival Committee and Dalton Education Technologist Regis Zaleman's for creating a spectacular celebration of Dalton’s diverse community.
