Award-Winning Novelist Karen Russell Speaks at HS Assembly
The HS assembly on May 26 featured a presentation by award-winning novelist and short story writer Karen Russell.
Dalton HS English Teacher and Creative Writing Program Coordinator Chris Hood hosted the interview, which included several audience questions and a passage reading by Russell.
Russell earned National Magazine’s Award for fiction in 2012 and 2018. Her first novel, Swamplandia! (2011), was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, winner of the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, and one of The New York Times’ Ten Best Books of 2011.
In addition, Russell has received a MacArthur Fellowship, Guggenheim Award, and is a former fellow of the NYPL Cullman Center and the American Academy in Berlin.
