Dance Theater Workshop presented their “solo” dances at The Martin Theater on June 9.
High School students Charlotte Chapman '21, Dylan Lee '21, Brielee Lu '21, Davide Murillo '22, KK Pohly '22, Gabie Waller-Whelan '22, and Zoe Ehrenkranz '22 were this year’s DTW choreographers for the performance. In addition, Sam Asa Pratt '10, a former DTW choreographer, returned to Dalton to choreograph 22 dance students.
DTW rehearsed outdoors and shot the film at night in empty spaces, with masks on—while maintaining social distancing throughout. The group tackled the challenge and discovered new techniques relating to camerawork, capturing images on film, and editing.
Students and faculty/staff — who attended the performance in-person, while friends and families tuned in via the live stream — were dazzled by our talented choreographers’ pieces and the dancers’ performances.

Former DTW choreographer Sam Asa Pratt ’10 returns to Dalton to choreograph for 22 dance students who rehearsed outdoors, shot at night in empty spaces, with masks on—while dancing and appropriately distanced from each other. It was a challenge, but with challenges come new discoveries. Dancers learned about camera techniques, how to capture images on film, and how to edit.
Includes intros and talk back at the end of the show.
