Dalton Community Gathers for Lunar New Year Celebration
This week, Dalton community members came together to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a variety of activities and collaborations.
Dalton’s Mandarin Team hosted a Lunar New Year Celebration for families on Zoom on Thursday, January 27. Families participated in raffles and enjoyed student performances and breakout sessions, including Skribbl, trivia, origami, paper cutting, lantern making, drawing, stories, and Fishtopia.

In conjunction with this year’s Music Department curriculum "Music Around the World," Department Co-chairs Bill Solomon and Liz Cruz invited Mandarin teachers Liqi Semenov and Cindy Wu to visit the 4th grade Music classes to teach the Lunar New Year song: Gong Xi.

The Asian Cultures Club beautifully and ornately decorated Dalton's 89th Street lobby in preparation and celebration of Lunar New Year. On Tuesday, January 31, Chef Jaz invited students and faculty to prepare and enjoy traditional edamame and vegetable dumplings with dipping sauce, expertly prepared by Tenzin Sangmo '23.
