Former Dalton HR Director Joan Walrond Details Hip Hop Music Experience in HS Music Class
Students in Music Department Co-Chair and MS/HS Percussion Teacher Dr. Bill Solomon’s Pop Music class enjoyed a special visit from Dalton’s former Director of Human Resources Joan Walrond, on Wednesday, April 27.
Joan popped into the Pop Music: Historical and Critical Analysis class to discuss her personal experiences in the early day of hip-hop in NYC.
After graduating from college, Joan worked alongside seminal hip-hop influencers Run-DMC, Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, and Def Jam records. Joan fielded student questions and helped them frame that era's cultural and historical context.
