FP Makes Braille Cards with PA Community Service Committee
The Dalton PA Community Service Committee hosted an event for First Program Students to gather on the upper roof to make braille cards for blind students on May 13.
The students used braille alphabet boards to feel how to make letters and then used lentils, beans, and pasta to write words and make designs.
The students also participated in an experiential activity where they tried to guess each other's designs while blindfolded by feeling them rather than seeing them.
The beautiful cards will be sent to students at The Jerusalem Institute For The Blind. Sarah Felsenthal, the Executive Director of The U.S. office, spoke about the Institute's history and its students' determination to overcome the challenge of being unable to see.
