Middle School Kicks Off 2023 with "A Belonging Celebration"
What better way to kick off the new year than celebrating community and belonging? Organized by the Chief of Equity & Belonging, Johára Tucker, and MS Equity & Belonging Programming Coordinators Michael Mogavero and Dwayne Dyce, Middle School students enjoyed an afternoon of diversity workshops at "A Belonging Celebration" on January 3.
The program featured 28 mini-workshops, including discussions, arts and culture, dance, current issues, and mindfulness exercises.
Through the vast array of topics and activities, students learned an Afro-Caribbean dance, Chinese calligraphy, knitting, and meditation, celebrated Black fashion designers, discussed women in sports, how comedy can create social change, and much more. Being a part of this beautiful experience allowed students to go beyond academic activities and explore different identities that make our community complete.
These workshops gave students and faculty a rewarding and wonderful experience to start 2023!
